Wang Shizhen was a poet, artist, and poetry theorist, a leader of the Qing Dynasty's literary circle. His official career was highly successful. As a poetry theorist, he edited several anthologies of verse and formulated a theory of poetry based on Shen Yun's concept. He showed great talent in calligraphy and painting in his early life in unrestrained style as an artist. We can find an indifferent and lofty artistic conception in his later artwork.
